Bejucal, Cuba, Jan 29 (Prensa Latina) With the production of 79,000 doses of recombinant streptokinase last year, Cuba upped manufacturing of this life-saving medicine 50 percent over initial 2003 production, Cuba s National Bio-preparedness Center reported.

  Recombinant streptokinase is used to treat thrombosis and heart attacks, given intravenously as soon as possible after the onset of a heart attack to dissolve clots, BIOCEN active ingredients plant chief, chemical engineer Dervis Llopiz, explained.

   Llopiz pointed out that the technology transfer was carried out with all established requisites and the medicine maintains all quality parameters.
