Havana.- The Havana-based Center
for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB)
has come up with a treatment against the Hepatitis
C virus that will contribute to a long-term cure
of liver damage caused by the illness. The product
is a combination of Alpha-2B interferon and
Rivairina, both Cuban-made drugs, an AIN news
agency note said. Cuban patients can now rely on
an alternative treatment that increases
possibilities to control the illness, Dr. Hugo
Nodarse of CIGB Pharmaceutical Sciences told AIN.
The combination of these two formulas allows for
an increased therapeutic response in people
suffering from chronic hepatitis.
