The 3rd Session of the Cuban-Lebanese Mixed
Commission for Economic, Commercial and
Technical Collaboration concluded here Friday
with signing of several agreements and the
interest of both nations in strengthening
bilateral cooperation.
Cuban Minister for Foreign Investment and
Economic Collaboration (MINVEC) Marta Lomas and
Lebanese Economy and Trade Minister Sami Haddad
presided the session and agreements.
Both signed the Final Protocol and a cultural
exchange agreement, and the delegations examined
possible actions in culture, trade, public
health, agriculture, biotechnology, higher
education and others.
Lomas expressed interest in strengthening
economic, commercial and technical relations,
and pointed out that participation of
enterprises from both countries in events and
fairs is an important aspect to consolidate.
She also referred to support from the
Chambers of Commerce for introduction of
services and products in both countries´
markets.
There is a Lebanese joint venture in the
Cuban tourism sphere, and Cuba aspires to have a
greater presence in tourism and other Lebanese
sectors.
For his part, Haddad highlighted how close
both countries are, and the importance of
developing bilateral relations and widening
cooperation, visible in the introduction of
Cuban medications and biotechnological products
in Lebanon.
Haddad mentioned tourism and financial
services among the Cuban sectors with greatest
attraction for Lebanese businesspeople.
He added that Lebanon is one of the largest
Cuban tobacco importers and consumers.
Haddad´s working program included interviews
with Cuban Foreign Trade and Economy Ministers,
Raul de la Nuez and Jose Luis Rodriguez
respectively.
