Pinar del Rio-Cuba, December 10 (AIN) A movie about
the social relations of famous Cuban singer Polo Montañez, who recently
died as a result of a fatal car accident, will start to be filmed by the
beginning of next year in the island.
Young Cuban TV-maker Armando Arencibia will be the
director of the film, which will be released on video. He will be working
in the screenplay with Raúl Damas, Polo’s self-representative -a farmer
that was born within a family of woodcutters in the "Sierra del Rosario"
mountain range, in the northeastern part of Pinar del Rio province.
This will be a fiction movie; it will not have a
biographical or documentary character, but it surely will have the songs
written and sung by the third Cuban who ever won a platinum disc with
popular music. They plan to make a one-and-a-half-hour movie.
Arencibia perfectly knows Polo’s work, for he had the
chance to make some video-clips with the famous music creator. The movie
will be sponsored by the Cuban Radio and Television Institute and they
plan to include Polo’s group in the filming; as well as some guest actors,
such as Ramoncitín Veloz, Dianelis Brito and a few others from Pinar del
Rio.
Polo Montañez -whose real name was Fernando Borrego
Linares- died last November 26th, but he left two CD’s for farm and
popular music fans: his awarded "Guajiro Natural" (Native Farmer) and
"Guitarra Mía" (Guitar of Mine); both recorded by French disc company
"Lusáfrica".
