Bush Plan Secrets Must be Revealed

CUBA, October 24, 2006 .- Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon stated that the Bush Plan s hidden chapter could repeat aggressions made in the past.

"I have no idea of its content, but I am thinking about blood, violence, crime, covert actions and propaganda," said Alarcon.

Addressing an interactive forum on the Bush Plan and the intensification of the blockade, he said "There should be a great world movement to oblige the United States to uncover the secrets of that chapter," affirmed the Cuban legislative leader.

The head of the parliament termed the Bush Plan a "freak to destroy the Cuban nation s independence and sovereignty," and slammed the US president s plan for an alleged transition to a "free" Cuba.

Alarcon said the document earmarks millions for counterrevolutionaries, and names and persecutes those who violate restrictions to travel to Cuba.

The Bush Plan, stated the legislator, mentions things like internal subversion, prohibition of trips and the denial of cooperation between the Cuban Churches Council and its US counterparts.

According to Alarcon, the plan forbids exports of medical equipment and medicine for the Operation Miracle, boosted by the Cuban government to provide free ophthalmologic surgery for patients with eye afflictions in Latin America and the Caribbean.

He also pointed out that the plan proposes attempted subversion of Cuban nickel and oil, in addition to the severe application of two chapters of the extra-territorial 1996 Helms-Burton Act. (Cubaminrex-PL)

New US Intelligence Chief for Cuba and Venezuela

CUBA, Nov 28 , 2006.- US Intelligence Chief John Negroponte appointed Norman Bailey as "Mission Manager" for Cuba and Venezuela. Negroponte's announcement does not state the aims of the designation nor its ties to a secret annex contained in the Bush Plan against the island.

Bailey is charged with the task of "leading the Intelligence Community at a strategic level, by integrating collection and analysis of data, identifying and filling gaps in intelligence and planning and ensuring the implementation of strategies."

Six similar posts exist in the US intelligence structure, reported Agence France Press. Bailey's position was created last August, Granma daily reported.

Negroponte was the US ambassador to Honduras during the Iran-Contra Affair and the dirty war against the Sandinista government in Nicaragua under the Reagan administration. At the time, Norman Bailey was also a member of the National Security Staff. (Cubaminrex- Cuban News Agency)
