The protection to children with disabilities

 

There are approximately 30 thousands professionals of sciences as well as support personnel and leaders participating on the attention to these people. 6052 mothers are receiving a salary for the attention to their children with major disabilities.  There are free specialized schools for these people. Two years ago it  has been opened in Havana city the first school dedicated to children suffering  from autism.

 

 

The health system and its permanently improvement

The health system is free for all the population. These services are based on the network of primary health care through family’s doctors. There is a doctor per each 170 inhabitants. The impact of the felt down of the socialist countries as well as the enduring of the U.S. blockade through the Helms Burton and Torricelli bills on the Cuban economy and particularly on the infrastructure of the health system, originated a large damage on it so the government started it reestablishment through a major program called Medicine for the Excellency and on 2004 and 2005,   444 policlinics  have been totally refurbished , 107 of them newly transformed.

217 physiotherapies quarters have been opened in these policlinics and the service will be extended to all of them. Haemodialysis services have been opened in 24 of them as well as in 88 of them, ophthalmologic services and 118 unities of intensives cares has been created on them.

27 hospitals have being refurbished and a program of technological re equipment of these centers is carrying out with the aim to approach the most important medical cares to the families. A program of creation of accelerated specialized people schools as well of improvement of the professionals have been created for the new services that it will be offered.

The Cuban health care system is taking as a  model by the Health World Organization: the birth mortality rate in 2004 was 5,8% and in some municipalities as Isla de la Juventud and Sancti Spiritus  was in the order of  1,8% and 3,3% respectively. The live expectancy is 77 years.

The Cuban children are vaccinated free of cost from its birth until is adolescence. Diseases as poliomyelitis and malaria have been eliminated since the 60s.

Cuba welfare system

The Cuban welfare system is based on the fact that any citizen and particularly none any young can be abandoned. Every problem in the society should find a solution or an alternative. Schools for training social workers have been opened and 21 thousands youths have already been graduated and they are organized in 1420 working brigades covering almost the  entire country. They are the doctors of the soul and its aim is to be friend and help everybody and  specially the poorest people and those  one with difficulties. Their main objective is: to pay attention to the infants from 0 to 15 years old suffering from nutritional disturbs, students who are in schools for behavior problems, infants who are suffering malign diseases, adults and young people participating in the training courses of the Ministry of the Sugar Industry, take care of the elder and disable people. They are also participating in the progressive transformation of the prisons into  schools and taking care of the prisoners who are suffering life sentences as well of the youth and  women incarcerates.

The educational revolution in Cuba

The primary education has suffered a deep change in Cuba. Every primary class has only 20 pupils for each teacher. They received  basic computer classes at pre scholar level  and English classes  since they reached the 3rth grade. They also received chess classes. Arts instructors are linked to the pupils since they are at the primary school .

The secondary school and the specialised education

Related to the medium and specialized education, there are 25 or 30 students per class. The teachers continue with the same pupils during its formation. In case that there are carency of some teachers, the students have classes by video or educative TV channels. The studies programs are linked to the higher education. After finished theirs studies, the graduates have  granted jobs.
