Five new Bush Anti-Cuba think tanks

Washington, Sep 14/2006 (Prensa Latina) The Bush administration has created five new “secret” interagency work groups to be instrumental in directing the destruction of the Cuban revolution with all-out economic war and other hostile measures.

The groups, which meet in a control room -a.k.a. war room- setting, were hurriedly and quietly set up after President Fidel Castro´s July 31 provisional delegation of his functions to other top officials while he recuperated from surgery, according to The Miami Herald.

US officials cited by the daily said the five groups reflect the priorities of the Bush administration against Cuba and its belief that the Cuban leader will not return to his position.

Three of the groups are under State Department control to foment diplomatic activities against the Island, transmit the “US position” by radio and TV bombardment, and promote Washington-style democracy.

The Commerce Department is running “humanitarian aid”, which in Cuba has long meant increased funds to paid “dissidents” and other mercenaries; while the fifth team, run by Homeland Security and the Territorial Security Department, concerns itself with migratory affairs.

The administration is reluctant to discuss the workings of these groups, preferring to focus attention on the “Committee to Aid a Free Cuba”, the instrument to put into practice the Bush Plan for changing Cuba´s social and political life from without.

The first version of that 450-page Bush Plan came out in May 2004 and made it clear that Cuba and her revolutionary gains would disappear if the plan prevailed.

The second version, revealed in July, admitted allocating millions of dollars to foment internal subversion in the Island, and planning to strengthen the present austere sanctions, which of course includes a more than 45-year economic, commercial and financial blockade.
