The children of the
Cuban community to Lebanon participated with special
pleasure at the final ceremony to announce the winners
of the competition “Our José Martí” which , appealed
by the Cuban Embassy, took place in Beirut to promote,
among its smallest members, the personality and the
labor done by the Cuban National Independence Hero,
José Martí.
The Ambassador Dario
de Urra welcomed the dozens of children and his parents
who made possible the competition explaining their
children who’s Martí was and reading to them “The Gold
Age” looking to motivate their creations.
The Ambassadors of Paraguay to Lebanon, H.E.Mr.
and Mrs. Alejandro and Nydia de Hamed, were the Jury
which reviewed the works and decided to award all
the participants (a dozen of children) because the
spirit and the effort carried out by them. The
Paraguayan Ambassador’s had a very relevant and wide
curriculum as professors in their country.
After to follow a
presentation about José Martí life and the delivery of
the awards, the children participated in games , dance
competitions, “piñatas” having a very pleasant journey
dedicated to the smallest members of our community.

Cubans Honor José Martí
Havana.- The entire Cuban population
paid tribute to National Hero José Martí with
activities to highlight his life and work, as it is a
tradition on every January 28th. Nearly 4,000 pioneers
from Havana marched in front of the Revolution Square
named after the name of the National Hero on Saturday
and laid a flower on his monument to form a huge
wreath. Homages, commemoration acts and patriotic
rallies to pay tribute to Martí were staged in primary
schools across the nation on Friday, to perpetuate his
patriotic and humanistic legacy. Students, most of the
José Martí Pioneers´ Organization, cited excerpts of
Marti´s life and work through songs, poems, plays and
dances.
