Despite that they are engaged in full period of
end-of-course exams, a group of young Lebaneses of the
International University of Beirut, was quoted at its
headquarters to attend the screening of the movie of
filmmaker W. Selles, "Motorcycle Diaries” about the tour
that the young Ernesto Guevara made with his friend Alberto
Granado, through the South American continent and the
indelible mark that this trip leave in the personality who
later became the “Guerrillero Heroico” (Heroic Freedom
fighter).
An enthusiastic welcome was tributed to the members of the
Cuban Embassy staff by the students participating at the
gathering.
The charge of Cultural Affairs of the Embassy gave a summary
overview of the life of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara and
highlight the most important traits of his personality
during his short period of life (Che Guevara was killed at
42) which not prevented him from having a career fully
surrendered to the fight against injustice and to achieve a
better world for the dispossessed classes on the planet.
She said she believe that "The thought of Che is fully in
force in Lebanon, a country that has been the scene of
intense conflict in its historical course and fundamentally
in the past three years, when it was attacked by Israel and
was able to defeated this aggressions well to face the
imperialist plans for the region, thanks to the resistance
of its people. " .
Finally, she did a parallel between the five Cubans
detained in the United States, his selflessness and
dedication to defend its people from terrorist attacks, and
the commitment of Che Guevara though to feel as own any
injustice
against to any other human being in any part of the world.
Finally, the film was exhibited. We took the opportunity to
distributed leaflets explaining the case of the Cuban Five.
